Benahavís village is another world just in the foothills surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, but only a short drive inland from the bustling western Costa del Sol.
The name Benahavís is of Moorish origin. One of the most beautiful parts of the area is Las Angosturas, a type of narrow canyon carved out by the centuries of flow from the river Guadalmina, rich in wildlife and vegetation and ideal for rural tourism, trekking and cycling right throughout the year.
In the valley just below the apartment are the large swimming pools (seasonal), golf driving range, padel tennis courts and friendly bar/café which also serves snacks.
Restaurants - Benahavís is famous all over the Costa del Sol for its cuisine and wide selection of restaurants. With a great selection of dishes to suit all tastes, the specialities include pork, beef, lamb, fish and game. Steaks are prepared here in many different ways, and in the local restaurants and tapas bars the variety is almost endless.
There are six golf courses within the municipality, with three more being built, the result is a scenic and traditional place surrounded by an amazing choice of leisure activities and places to visit.
San Pedro, an unspoilt charming Spanish town is just a 10 minute drive away, here you will find traditional shops, sidewalk cafes and excellent tapas bars.A short walk down the main promenade takes you to the golden beaches and several chiringuitos (beach bars).
About a 15 minute drive will take you to the millionaire playground that is Puerto Banus, this is the place to be pampered and see the fabulous luxury yachts while sipping a drink at one of the many open air restaurants and bars. Try the nightlife at a choice of alfesco bars, piano clubs and nightclubs whilst during the day this is a shoppers paradise with several of the worlds renowned fashion houses.
Fashionable Marbella is a 20 minute drive away with its great shopping and restaurants in the narrow streets of the historical Old Town. The beaches are excellent and the promenade stretches for miles where there are many good places to eat and drink.
Visit the attractions of the Costa Del Sol - Other places of interest within easy striking distance include: Estepona, Ronda, Gibraltar, Mijas, and many other "white villages" and, of coruse, the bustling provincial capital Málaga with the Picasso museum.
Andalucia cries out to be explored with its rolling countryside, olive and citrus groves, mountains and Europe´s most Southerly snow ski resort in the Sierra Nevada, less than 2 hours drive away. Add to this historic cities like Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz and so many more, plus the Mediterranean and Atlantic beaches and you will need to visit more than once!
Golfers are spoilt for choice - with some 60 courses to choose from. Other sports and recreational pursuits are equally well catered for - or just relax with a glass of Rioja, enjoy the climate all year round and watch the world stroll by.
Malaga and Gibraltar airports are both about 40 minutes East or West via the magnificent Mediterranean motorway
